Education marketing challenges

Education marketing runs to the calendar. Intakes, application deadlines and open days set the pace, and students research for months before they apply. Most of that research happens online: in a Google and TNS study of 552 Australian students, 97% researched their options online.

Every intake is a deadline

For 2027 entry in Victoria, VTAC timely applications ran from 3 August to 28 September 2026, with offer rounds from November to February. Miss the window and the student waits for the next intake, or enrols somewhere else.

Students choose the course before the provider

In the same study, 72% of students started with a specific course in mind and only 36% were sure of their provider. 80% used institution websites and 45% thought better of universities on the first page of search results. Your course pages carry the decision.

International recruitment is tighter

The 2027 National Planning Level stays at 295,000 new international students, and visa processing slows once a provider passes 80% of its allocation. New commencements in 2026 were tracking 8% below 2025. Each international enquiry is worth more and costs more to win.

Strict rules on what you can claim

ASQA lists false or misleading marketing, unrealistically short courses, "easy" RPL and unchecked AI-written copy as known risks for RTOs, and holds you responsible for what third parties say. CRICOS providers must not promise migration outcomes and must show their CRICOS name and number in all written and online material.

What Foresight solves for education

Course pages that rank and answer questions

We optimise course pages for Google and AI search, and make sure each one states fees, duration, delivery mode, location, entry requirements and start dates clearly. Students get their answers, and your information stays accurate and current.

Campaigns timed to intakes and open days

We plan Google and Meta campaigns backwards from application closing dates and open days, then push open day registrations and applications in the weeks that count. Budgets shift to the courses with places to fill. For Relationships Australia Victoria, which runs courses and accredited training, conversion rate rose nearly 39% year on year.

Stay in front of students until they apply

Students take months to decide. We use remarketing to keep your courses in view, and connect enquiry forms to your CRM so your team can follow up while the student is still comparing options.

Cost per enrolment, by course and intake

We track each student from click to enquiry, application and enrolment, so you see what each course and intake costs to fill. Every ad is checked against ASQA and National Code rules before it runs.

Digital marketing for schools, colleges and universities

Digital marketing is where most students and families start their search. We plan it around your intakes and the way your audience decides: a parent choosing a secondary school weighs different things to an adult picking a Certificate IV.

For schools, enrolments are shifting between sectors. ABS figures show 4,160,918 students enrolled in 2025. Government school enrolments fell slightly, while independent schools grew 15.3% between 2021 and 2025. When families compare, being easy to find and easy to visit matters.

  • School and course pages that rank. SEO for your school name, suburb, programs and enrolment questions, plus course pages with fees, entry requirements and start dates.
  • Search ads timed to enrolment windows. Campaigns for open days, school tours, scholarships and application deadlines, with budget moved to the year levels and courses with places to fill.
  • Remarketing and email. Follow-up for families and students who enquire, attend an open day or start an application.
  • Tracking. Every enquiry, tour booking and application tracked to the campaign that drove it.

Our digital marketing strategy for each school or provider starts with the enrolments you need by year level or course, then works back to the budget and channels that will get you there.

Social media marketing for education

Social media is where prospective students and parents get a feel for your community before they visit. We run social media marketing that shows real school and campus life and fills open days.

Video that shows the experience

Short videos of classes, campus tours, student stories and teacher introductions for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Meta, filmed with consent.

Open day and tour campaigns

Paid social campaigns that push registrations in the weeks before an open day, with reminders for everyone who registered.

Engagement that builds community

Posts that current families and students want to share, and quick, friendly replies to questions in comments and messages.

Safe and compliant

Every post checked for student and parent consent, and every course claim checked against ASQA and National Code rules.

Who AI recommends right now

Every month we ask ChatGPT what one type of buyer would ask. This one is an adult looking for a short course in Melbourne. It isn't your exact question, so run our free check to see your own. Is your business on the list?

“What are the best places to study a short course in Melbourne?”

Asked 3 separate times on 4 November 2026: the businesses it named most often.

Questions

Can you advertise for RTOs and CRICOS providers?

Yes. We write within the ASQA standards and the National Code: no guaranteed job or migration outcomes, accurate course details and fees, and your CRICOS name and number wherever they are required. You sign off every ad before it goes live.

When should we start promoting an intake?

Well before applications open. For Victorian Year 12 students starting in 2027, VTAC timely applications opened on 3 August 2026, so awareness and open day campaigns need to run through winter. Later rounds run to February, which suits mid-year and late-intake courses.

What do you measure for an education provider?

Cost per enquiry, open day registrations, applications and cost per enrolment, by course and intake. We connect your forms to your CRM so marketing is judged on enrolments.

Can you help schools with enrolment marketing?

Yes. The approach we use for courses works for schools too: SEO for your school name and suburb, search and social campaigns for open days and tours, video that shows school life, and tracking from enquiry to enrolment by year level.
