Ecommerce brand challenges

We're an ecommerce marketing agency for retail and direct to consumer brands, with a lot of experience on Shopify. Whatever the size of the brand, we see the same few things holding growth back.

Hooked on paid ads

Google and Meta ads are the quick win, the little dopamine hit. Lean on them alone and every sale costs you a click.

Spend that doesn't scale

Double your ad spend and your conversion rate often halves. More budget on its own rarely means more profit.

Email doing too much

If email brings in a big share of your revenue, it's usually a sign search and social aren't pulling their weight.

Someone else's playbook

What worked for someone else's store won't always work for your customers. You can't know until you know them.

What Foresight solves for ecommerce brands

SEO that starts with your collection pages

Google loves category pages. It would rather show shoppers a range than a single product, so your collection pages are usually the best place to start. The best performing ecommerce brands we see earn half or more of their traffic from organic search, and we build it with relevant content and the credibility that comes from reviews and good links.

An SEO audit table of page issues

Paid ads that spread your risk

We run Google and Meta ads well, and we're honest about their limits. Then we follow your customers to where they actually are, whether that's TikTok, YouTube or Reddit, so you're never relying on one platform.

Shopping ads with product reviews

Conversion rate optimisation built on real customers

We start with post purchase surveys, customer calls and session recordings in Microsoft Clarity, then test the changes that matter. Lift your conversion rate and every channel you pay for works harder.

An AI summary of a week of session recordings: rage and dead clicks, the three biggest problems and the test for each

Creative that finds the right people

With broad targeting, your ad creative does the targeting. We make ads that speak straight to the people you want, from the first second.

What understanding your customer looks like

One brand we work with sells kids' lunchboxes. Best practice said to show colour swatches on every product. The session recordings told a different story: parents were choosing from the product photos more than the swatches, so we built the page around how they actually shop.

For a brand selling patterned bags, we noticed shoppers hunting for every product in a matching print. So we built a matching section that does it for them, and the extra pieces go straight into the cart.

Neither idea came from a checklist. Both came from watching and listening to real customers.

How we work as your ecommerce marketing agency

Every brand gets a digital marketing strategy built on its own customers, margins and stock. We work in four steps.

  1. Understand the customer. Post purchase surveys, customer calls, reviews and session recordings tell us why people buy, what nearly stopped them and who they compare you with.
  2. Fix the foundations. Tracking, product feeds, site speed and collection page structure, so every channel works from clean data.
  3. Build the channel mix. Search, shopping, Meta and the channels your customers actually use, with SEO and email growing underneath, so no single platform carries the business.
  4. Test and scale. Creative, offer and landing page tests every month, with budget moved to what brings in profitable new customers.

We set the strategy around contribution margin and new customers as well as revenue, so the growth is growth you can keep.

Ecommerce case studies

A few of the brands we've grown, from fast-moving Shopify stores to global retailers. Each case study started with the same question: what does this brand's customer actually need?

Under Armour

We led Under Armour North America's SEO migration of more than 50,000 pages to Salesforce Commerce Cloud, and organic traffic grew 20% over the next 24 months.

Watches of Switzerland

A 600% increase in conversions and a 72% decrease in cost per lead, delivered for the same budget, with SEO conversions up 45.74% year on year.

Wine Selectors

We led the SEO and analytics strategy for their 10,000+ page ecommerce migration, and revenue rose 21% on the previous period.

Blue Illusion

408% ecommerce sales growth from 2019 to 2020, and a further 112% from 2020 to 2021.

BN Healthy

An average 45% year-on-year sales uplift across Australia and New Zealand against the previous agency, and 24% growth against our own performance.

YETI

We led the international SEO strategy and the migration of more than 4,000 pages from Magento to Demandware.

Your website is your best salesperson

Your website does the selling for every channel you pay for, so we treat it as part of the marketing. On Shopify and other platforms, we look at:

  • Collection pages with useful copy, filters and internal links that help shoppers and search engines
  • Product pages with clear photos, sizing, delivery and returns details and genuine reviews
  • Checkout speed and payment options, from express wallets to buy now pay later
  • Page speed and Core Web Vitals on mobile
  • Clean migrations when you replatform, so you keep the rankings and revenue you've built

We've led SEO migrations for Under Armour, YETI and Wine Selectors, so a new website becomes a step forward for your digital marketing.

Questions

What size ecommerce brands do you work with?

We do our best work with brands turning over around $2 million a year or more (roughly $200k a month if you're not funded) that are still nimble enough to move quickly.

Where do we start?

Usually with paid ads, SEO and conversion rate optimisation together. If you'd like to start with one, we start with paid, because it shows results quickly while the slower, bigger wins from SEO build.

Do you work with Shopify stores?

Yes. Much of our ecommerce work is with Shopify and direct to consumer brands, and we know its collection pages, apps and tracking well.

Do you handle website migrations?

Yes. We've led SEO and analytics for large ecommerce migrations, including more than 50,000 pages for Under Armour North America, 4,000+ pages for YETI and 10,000+ pages for Wine Selectors. We map every URL, protect your rankings and watch the data closely after launch.

How do you report on results?

Monthly, against the numbers that matter to the business: revenue, new customers, the cost to acquire a customer, conversion rate and margin by channel. Every report also says what we changed and what we will test next.
